Courgetti Bolognaise

I use a Hemsley and Hemsley hand spiralizer and recommend it. Here is my go-to spiralized meal:


  • 1 Courgette
  • Lean Beef Mince
  • Onion
  • Chopped Garlic
  • Chopped veggies: Pepper, Carrot, Mushrooms… (Anything in the fridge!)
  • Tinned tomatoes
  • Tomato Paste

The recipe is so simple!

Spiralize the courgette. If you don’t have a spiralizer (I recommend investing) then a vegetable peeler will also create ribbons. Blanche your strands in hot water and tap dry with kitchen paper. I tend to eat  the courgette raw – but with a lot on your plate they can cause a bit of a shock to those not keen on raw veggies!

Meanwhile, sauté the onion in coconut oil and add some chopped garlic. When the onion is translucent add the mince and cook until browned. Add your seasoning to taste (salt,pepper,herb de provence…) and then any chopped veggies you want to use in your bolognaise. Once these have sizzled for a few minutes add the tinned tomatoes and paste. Optional to add some Worcester sauce and balsamic for flavour (my Mum’s secret ingredients!).

Let this simmer for as long as you can avoid tucking in to the delicious smelling pan, topping on your courgetti and shrinking with basil leaves and cheese!
