My love of chocolate died and went to heaven with these raw food inspired snack bars.
They were simple to make and the topping chocolate layer from One Love Cocoa was so great! Their chocolate is so pretty (pretty packaging = essential?!) and I can’t wait to try more.
Here’s the recipe for the millionaires flapjack, made in 3 layers:
Base Layer:
- 1/2 cup oats
- 1 tblsp smooth nut butter
- 1 tblsp melted coconut oil
Simply mix all the ingredients and then press down into a lined (with greaseproof paper) tin. Place in the freezer while you prep the next layer.
Caramel layer:
- 1/2 cup dates
- 2tblsp apple purée
- 1 tblsp melted cacao butter
- 2 tblsp melted coconut oil
Blend in a food processor and then add to the tin as your middle layer. (Avoid eating in the process….) Place back in the freezer whilst you make top layer.
Top layer:
- Melted dark chocolate (1/2 a bar)
Put the chocolate in a glass bowl over a small saucepan with some boiling water (bain marie) and stir slowly so that the chocolate melts. Pour over layers 1 and 2 and place back in the freezer before serving.
I like the idea of the apple puree in the middle layer. That’s something a bit different 🙂
